The Wall to Glendalough

No Access! The Wall to Glendalough is Private Property.

A drystone wall once ran from Laragh Bridge to Glendalough. The unusual herringbone construction of the wall is not the typical style used in the area. Sections of the wall are still intact and visible in the embankment to the right hand side of the road, travelling in the direction of Glendalough.

Another unique feature in the wall can be found below the Brockagh Centre. The Priest's Spout gets its name from the spring below the Priest's House which flowed out of a spout on the wall at the main road. Locals used to meet here to collect drinking water for cooking and making tea. The first public water system was introduced to Laragh in the early 1960s.
